Gummies have been a beloved treat for generations, but did you know you can make your own healthier and more flavorful versions using real fruit purees? Imagine sinking your teeth into a burst of natural sweetness, knowing you're indulging in a treat that's not only delightful but also packed with the goodness of fresh fruits. In this article, we'll guide you through the delightful journey of creating your own gelatin gummies using real fruit purees.

Homemade Fruit Puree Gummies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of fruit puree (you can use berries, mangoes, peaches, etc.)

  • 1/4 cup of water

  • 1/4 cup of honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • 3 tablespoons of gelatin powder

  • Optional: a splash of lemon juice for flavour enhancement

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Fruit Puree

  1. Wash and prepare the fruit of your choice. Remove pits, seeds, and peels if necessary.

  2. Blend the fruit in a blender until you have a smooth puree.

  3. If desired, add a splash of lemon juice to enhance the flavour and preserve the colour of the puree.

Step 2: Bloom the Gelatin:

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over 1/4 cup of water. Let it sit and absorb the water for about 5 minutes until it becomes soft.

Step 3: Warm Up the Puree:

  1. Pour the fruit puree into a saucepan and warm it over low heat. Avoid boiling; gentle warming is sufficient.

Step 4: Combine Gelatin and Puree:

  1. Add the bloomed gelatin to the warm puree in the saucepan.

  2. Stir gently and continuously until the gelatin is fully dissolved into the puree. This should result in a smooth mixture.

Step 5: Sweeten the Mixture:

  1. Add honey or maple syrup to the mixture.

  2. Stir until the sweetener is fully incorporated. Adjust the amount to achieve your desired level of sweetness.

Step 6: Pour into Molds:

  1. Carefully pour the mixture into silicone moulds. These moulds come in various shapes and sizes, so choose the ones that you like.

Step 7: Set the Gummies:

  1. Place the moulds in the refrigerator and allow the gummies to set for at least 2-4 hours, or until they are firm to the touch.

Step 8: Unmold and Store:

  1. Gently pop the gummies out of the moulds once they are fully set.

  2. Place the gummies in an airtight container, separating layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

  3. Store the container in a cool, dry place. These gummies are shelf-stable and can be stored at room temperature for a few weeks.
